Karpov not Kasparov is a musical game of chess between synthesizers and drums. There are nor winners neither losers in this game but there are always energetic trippy sounds, subconscious oriental tunes intertwined with danceable electroclash pulses. However there's more to it than just the music. Live shows are always different and might include contemporary dance performances, live projections of chess games played by the audience, aerobic classes or live score for old silent films. Many of these shows were hosted in rather unconventional locations like a barber shop, an old people's house, a restaurant toilet or a shoe store. In autumn 2011 the first studio material signed by Karpov not Kasparov was released at LocalRecords. The EP was called 'Soundtrack for a Game of Chess" and was soon considered among the best musical works of the year by Romanian Cultural Radio and Radio Europa Libera and then was declared 'the album of the month' by Vice Magazine and included in WMFU New York playlist. In autumn 2012 the band took a few musical trips to Budapest, Vienna and Berlin. The winter of 2013 brought the second studio EP. March 2014 tour included Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Warsaw, Poznan, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest & Timisoara. Meanwhile an alter-ego was born and baptized with the symmetrical name of Kepler not Kopernicus of which you will hear soon!
